Stop Display The introduction of HDR cameras on the market adds to the difficulty to measure images and this is particularly the case if an operator has to adjust a mix of SDR and HDR cameras. Moving from one to the other, it will be extremely difficult for him to align the white levels similarly on the two types of cameras. The trick of the Stop display is that the waveform is no longer linear in millivolt, but logarithmic by setting the 0 (corresponding to the 80% white level) in the center of the screen, and that that scale will work for SDR or HDR cameras.

Picture BRIGHT-UP Now that pictures are created for high resolution displays and sometimes with high dynamic range luminance curve, we often receive the question about how to monitor carefully the levels in a video signal directly in the picture. There many ways to measure that and some are well known: Luminance Vector display (see T&T N°109), Diamond display, Spearhead display (see T&T N°66). But there is a particular display for long long time, in all Tektronix oscilloscopes that allows to check very rapidly the level of luminance in the picture itself. This is the bright-up possibility that is switched off by default.

But they have not really worked about interconnection and interoperability: How for instance to know what is in a system or how to simply connect a camera to a monitor in this environment ? Facing this context, AMWA has created an open working group named NMOS to work on these subjects. The first published specification (IS-04) enables applications to discover networked resources, which is an important first step towards automation and scalability. Tektronix being one of the active members of this group, IS-04 is already implemented in the Prism to facilitate the network connectivity.

So, the signal is divided in 4 equal parts and transported on 4 different coaxial cables. Two modes exist for splitting the pixels, each of one with advantages and disadvantages.
